We designed a greenhouse that integrates care for the earth, care for people and sharing the surplus. A beautiful vegetable chapel in the garden where we can bathe in oxygen.
At one side it has a stone wall that collects solar warmth during the day and slowly releases it during the night. This wall keeps the greenhouse warm at night.
At the other side there is space for a hot compost heap. In summer (when the extra heat is not needed) it is a tomato bed; in winter we pile up the compost in the evening and let a few chickens turn it during the day.
Together with the warmth collecting wall this keeps the greenhouse much warmer during cold winter nights.
The greenhouse brings us a bigger diversity of plants, and it stretches the edges of our seasons. We can start sowing a bit earlier, and keep harvesting a bit longer.
